Anagallis
Arable pimpernel ( Anagallis arvensis)
As pimpernel ( Anagallis ) is called a genus in the subfamily Myrsinengewächse ( Myrsinoideae ) within the family of Primrose ( Primulaceae ). The botanical name is derived from the Greek words ana again and agallein for garnish off and suggests that species of this genus in one year produce two flowering generations. The German trivial name refers to the fact that some of the field - pimpernel ( Anagallis arvensis) was formerly used for the treatment of Gauch ( = mental illness).
Description
Stipules are not available. The flowers are fünfzählig and radial symmetry. There is only one stamen circle, so only five stamens present. The leaves are opposite. The capsule fruits jump on with a lid.
