Anaktuvuk River

The Anaktuvuk River ( also Anukturuk River ) is a 215 km long right tributary of the Colville River in the North Slope to the north of the U.S. state of Alaska.

In Inupiaq, the language of the Inupiat, does the name of the river "place of Karibukots ," an indication that to fall into large herds of caribou.

It rises in the north of the Brooks Range, flows mainly in a northerly direction and empties into the Colville River.

The Kanayut River and the Nanushuk River are the only major tributaries of the Anaktuvuk River.
