Anatoli Maslyonkin

Anatoli Jewstignejewitsch Masljonkin, Russian Анатолий Евстигнеевич Маслёнкин ( born June 29, 1930 in Moscow, † 16 May 1988 ) was a Soviet football player. The defensive player was with the selection of the USSR 1956 Olympic champion and 1960 European champion, he also took part in the FIFA World Cup in 1958 and 1962.

Masljonkin was severely hard of hearing, although he could hear the whistle of the referee still, however, was mostly unresponsive to cheers of his teammates and coach. Because of his talent, "read" the game and also great to interact with his own goalkeeper, he played mostly as a center half in the national team, he was partially as a man-marker to neutralize particularly important attacker of the opponent - such as Raymond Kopas - are used.

Career

Masljonkin came in 1954, after he had previously shown no outstanding achievements to Spartak Moscow. There, however, he was able to play almost immediately in the starting eleven and already in the summer of 1955 was appointed to the Soviet selection. In his first game against the reigning world champions Germany he succeeded his only international goal. During his time at Spartak, he was a mainstay of the team that in 1956, 1958 and 1962 champion of the USSR, and in 1956 and 1963 could win the Cup of the country. Also in the selection of the USSR, he was a mainstay, he came in 1955-1962 33 A- international matches, as well as a B- countries game used and it took part in four major tournaments.

In 1964 he joined the newly promoted Schinnik Yaroslavl, with whom he also played for one season after the immediate re- descent into the second league, before he ended his career as a player.

After his playing career, he worked as a sports teacher at various sports schools.

Some years after his death in 1988 donated former teammates from his Spartaker time a monument to him.
