Anatoliy Nogovitsyn

Anatoly Alexeyevich Nogovitsyn (Russian Анатолий Алексеевич Ноговицын born April 29, 1952 at village Baryschewka in Semipalatinsk Oblast, Kazakh SSR ) is a Russian Colonel General in retirement. Most recently he was until May 2012 First Deputy Chief of Staff of the United Organization of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO ).

In 1973 he graduated from the High Military Aviation School in Armavir with distinction and in 1980 the Zhukov Military Academy for commanders of air defense from. In the decades that followed, he served in various units and positions of the Soviet air forces and air defense.

From 1998-2000 finally Nogovitsyn was first deputy commander and chief of staff of the Russian air forces and the troops of air defense in the Far East.

From 2000-2002 he was commander of the 11th Army Air Force and Air Defence, and 2002-2008 Deputy Supreme Commander of the Air Force.

After his appointment as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian armed forces in July 2008, he was during the Caucasus war in 2008 a wider audience, especially in Russia, because he was as Speaker of the General Staff of daily press conferences on the situation in the conflict zone.

From March 1, 2010 to his age-related discharge from the military service on May 3, 2012, he served in the position of the First Deputy Chief of Staff of the United CSTO.

Anatoli Nogovitsyn is candidate of military sciences and " deserving fighter pilot of the Russian Federation". He graduated on 10 different types of aircraft a flying time of about 2800 hours.
