Anatoliy Zlenko

Anatoly Maximovich Zlenko ( born June 2, 1938 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union) is a Ukrainian politician and diplomat. He was from July 1990 to August 1994 and again from October 2000 to September 2003 Foreign Minister of Ukraine.

Anatoly Zlenko began his career as a diplomat in the Soviet Union. He was from 1973 to 1979 member of the Secretariat of UNESCO in Paris and from 1983 to 1987 Permanent Representative of the USSR to UNESCO.

In June 1990 Zlenko was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and was after Ukraine gained statehood in July 1991, until August 1994, the first foreign minister of the sovereign Ukraine. From 1994 to 1997 was Zlenko Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations and from 1997 to 2000 Ambassador of Ukraine to France. From October 2000 to September 2003 was Anatoly Zlenko a second time Foreign Minister of Ukraine.
