Anatrachyntis

Anatrachyntis is a genus of butterflies of the family splendor butterfly ( Cosmopterigidae ).

Features

The moths have narrow to very narrow, lanceolate forewings with reddish brown color and a drawing of irregular binding and strokes. The drawing of Frans shed is striking. The hind wings are very narrow and taper to a point.

In the males, the Tegumen is long and slender. The Brachia are of different lengths. The right brachium is one to two times as long as the left and tapers to. The Valven are symmetrical, spatulate or lobusartig. The right Valvella is well trained, the left is greatly reduced. The aedeagus is tubular or runs distally pointed.

In females, the posterior Apophyses are slightly longer than the anterior Apophyses. The ostium bursae is located in a sac- like membrane between the 7th and 8th sternite. The sterigma is only weakly sclerotized, cylindrical or spherical. The ductus bursae is narrow and membranous. The corpus bursae is membranous and oval. Signa are not formed.

Dissemination

The species of the genus are widespread pantropical. In Europe, only three species occur that are native to the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.

Biology

The caterpillars live in a variety of fruits and flowers and can damage cotton and other crops.
