Ancient Diocese of Lavaur

The diocese of Lavaur (Latin: Dioecesis Vaurensis ) was a location in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Lavaur.

History

The diocese of Lavaur was on July 11, 1317 by Pope John XXII. built out of territory of the archbishopric of Toulouse. First bishop was Roger d' Armagnac.

On 29 November 1801, the diocese of Lavaur was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the diocese of Montpellier.

The diocese of Lavaur was the archbishopric of Narbonne is a suffragan.
