Ancient Diocese of Rieux

The diocese of Rieux (Latin: Dioecesis Rivensis ) was located in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Rieux- Volvestre.

History

The diocese of Rieux was posted on July 11, 1317 by Pope John XXII. noster built with the Papal bull Salvator out of territory of the Diocese of Pamiers. First bishop was Guillaume de Broce.

On 29 November 1801, the diocese of Rieux was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the archbishopric of Toulouse.

The diocese of Rieux was the archbishopric of Toulouse is a suffragan.
