André Amellér

André Charles Gabriel Amellér ( born January 2, 1912 in Arnaville, Meurthe -et -Moselle, France; † 14 May 1990) was a French composer, conductor, music educator and bassist.

In a musical family born, he learned with 7 years of playing the violin. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris bass, conducting, harmony, fugue, counterpoint, composition and music history.

In 1937, he was a double bass player in the Orchestre de l' Opéra de Paris and stayed in this orchestra for 17 years. In 1953 he became director of the Conservatoire National de Région in the Burgundian city of Dijon. He has stimulated the musical life in Dijon and surroundings and enriched by remarkable performances by the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire with renowned guest conductors and soloists.

His oeuvre comprises some 400 works.
