André Chéron

André Cheron ( born September 25, 1895 in Colombes, † 12 September 1980 in Leysin ) was a French chess master and author. He is considered one of the most important endgame theoretician.

Life

He lived in Switzerland and was in the years 1926, 1927 and 1929 champion of France. Even at international tournaments he was successful in 1927 in London and 1928 in The Hague. In the FIDE Amateur World Championship 1928, he was 9 of 16 participants.

It was heavy lung disease and lived for 20 years in a sanatorium. During this time he wrote his unique four -volume work Nouveau Traité complet d' échecs. La fin de partie ( " textbook and handbook of the playoffs " ), which appeared in several editions since 1923 in France. The German edition contains 2336 playoffs, organized systematically and thoroughly, examined carefully and completely. It deals with all occurring in practice endings and also contains more than 100 composed of Cheron studies. The book has long been regarded as the standard work on endgames, and is associated in chess circles simply as the Cheron.

1934 Cheron wrote another book on theoretical issues in chess composition (Les Echecs artistiques ).

Eightfold Springer conversion

André Cheron was International referee since 1957 for chess compositions. He has published over 450 works, including 400 studies. The following record task (so-called task) shows an eight-fold lower transformation into a Springer.
