André Téchiné

André Téchiné ( born March 13, 1943 in Valence d' Agen, Midi -Pyrénées, France ) is a French screenwriter and film director.

Life

André Téchiné worked as a critic for the Cahiers du cinéma ( 1964-67 ) before he started making films himself. His debut film, he returned in 1970 with Paulina skin off. Téchiné shot, among others with well-known actors such as Isabelle Huppert, Catherine Deneuve, Juliette Binoche, Isabelle Adjani, Emmanuelle Béart and Daniel Auteuil. In 1985 he was honored as Best Director for his film Rendez -Vous at the festival in Cannes and got the 1995 César Award for Best Director for Wild Hearts. In 1999 he was member of the jury at Cannes.

In 2003, his work was awarded the Prix René Clair. After a three year hiatus to Téchiné reported in 2007 with Les Témoins back. The film was shown in competition at the 57th Berlinale celebrated its world premiere there also.

In 2011 he was appointed to the jury of the 68th International Film Festival of Venice.
