Andreas Heinz

Andreas Heinz ( born February 4, 1960 in Stuttgart ) is a German psychiatrist and psychotherapist.

Life

Andreas Heinz studied medicine, philosophy and anthropology at the Ruhr- University Bochum, at the Free University of Berlin and at Howard University, Washington DC. He received his Ph.D. in 1988 in Bochum MD with a thesis on the anthropological and evolutionary models of schizophrenia research. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda MD. In 1998 he was awarded the doctorate at the Free University of Berlin with the Scriptures The dopaminergic reinforcement system for psychiatry and psychotherapy.

Heinz is since 2002 director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Campus Charité Mitte, Berlin, President of the German Society of Biological Psychiatry ( DGBP ). From 2008 to 2011 he was speaker of the Standing Conference of the Chair of Psychiatry in Germany. Since 2009 he has been assessor Transcultural Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, the Board of the German Society for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Neurology. and project manager in the international research project " Mental Health and Migration". Since 2012 he has been Deputy Chairman of the Action Mentally Ill, an association for mental health reform. It represents a person-centered orientation and opening of psychiatry. In 2011 he was appointed on the basis of special research achievements for Leibniz Chair at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology Magdeburg. 2013 doctorate Heinz at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Potsdam with the work, the term mental illness, Dr. phil.

Heinz is the editor of the textbook "The Practice of Intercultural Psychiatry & Psychotherapy. Migration and Mental Health " and author of numerous scientific publications on psychiatry under the Nazis, critical neuroscience and neurobiology of psychosis and alcohol disorders.

Andreas Heinz is a grandson of the former president of the state employment office, Baden- Württemberg Eugen Heinz.
