Andreas Munkert

Andreas " mush " Munkert (born 7 March 1908 in Nuremberg, † April 23, 1982 in Nuremberg ) was a German football player and coach. The defender won in 1936 with his club 1.FC Nürnberg the German Championship after he had already won the 1935 Tschammerpokal to Nuremberg.

Career

The wiry defender began his career at the 1 FC Nuremberg. He was a rather quiet representatives, but his defensive impact was famous. In 1934, he was with the club in the final of the German Cup. In Berlin, however, they lost to FC Schalke 04 2-1. Two years later he was able to celebrate a German championship. It was not until just before the end in the extension scored the 2-1 winner against the strong Düsseldorf. Even before the German Championships, he won the Tschammerpokal with the " Club" 1935. 1937 Schalke 04 was again recorded the victory in the final. This time the club lost 2-0. Four years in a row he had been with the 1st FC Nuremberg in the Finals: 1934 German Championship 1935 Tschammerpokal, 1936 and 1937 German Cup. Since it was not surprising that coach Otto Reich mink became aware of the Franks.

Because of its good defensive performance he was discovered for the national team and came in the years 1935 and 1936 to eight internationals. His debut in the national team was Munkert on 28 April 1935 in Brussels in a 6-1 win over Belgium. In 1936, he also belonged to the squad for the Olympic team but did not play. His eighth and final use of the DFB team had the defender Nuremberg on November 15, 1936 in Berlin in a 2-2 draw against Italy. He made it together with Hans Jakob ( goalkeeper ), Reinhold coins Berg, Paul Janes, Ludwig Goldbrunner and Albin Kitzinger against the World Champion of the year 1934, the German defensive.

With Nuremberg, he completed 24 finals matches in the German Cup, 1943, two inserts for added Orpo Warsaw. Later he gave a guest performance at FC Thuringia Weida, before he returned to the club. In 1939 he was drafted into military service. In the season 43/43 he supported the SG order police Warsaw. He did not return until 1947, he returned from captivity.

As a coach, he was active among others at SC Freiburg in the first year of the 2nd League South, 1950/51, from the second half.

Today, Block 4 of the easy credit stadium bears his name.
