Andreas Renschler

Andreas Renschler ( born March 29, 1958 in Stuttgart ) is a German manager. He was from October 1, 2004 to January 28, 2014 Member of the Board of Daimler AG.

Life

Renschler studied after completion of the apprenticeship as a bank clerk from 1979 to 1983 industrial engineering in Esslingen with the completion of a degree in industrial engineering. From 1984 to 1987 he studied at the University of Tübingen Business Administration, where he also earned a degree as Diplom- Kaufmann. His diploma thesis was the computer company Hewlett -Packard.

1988 Renschler joined the Daimler -Benz AG in the field of organization and IT. In 1989 he worked on the staff of Mercedes -Benz Chairman Werner Niefer and then took over the management of project teams in the field of corporate planning. In 1992, he was assistant to the designated CEO Helmut Werner. In 1993 he took over the project AAV (All Activity Vehicle ). Job it was to develop a new luxury SUV and select and build a production site in the USA. The result was the newly developed Mercedes -Benz M -Class, which has been built since 1997, built up by Renschler since 1993 plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

After leading the division M-Class and as head of the production subsidiary Mercedes -Benz U.S. International Inc. ( MBUSI ) Renschler 1999 moved into the Group Headquarters in Stuttgart and became head of staff development in the meantime the DaimlerChrysler Group merged with the American company Chrysler AG.

From 1999 to 2004, Renschler boss smart GmbH.

In spring 2004, Renschler was used in addition to his tasks in smart at the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation ( MMC) in Tokyo to review strategic and operational options for MMC within the Daimler Group. Result was the withdrawal of Daimler at MMC.

From 1 October 2004 Andreas Renschler Member of the Board of Daimler AG and from October 2004 until March 2013, responsible for Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses.

From 1 April 2013, he was responsible for Production and Procurement Mercedes -Benz Cars and for the entire Mercedes- Benz Vans.

On January 28, 2014 he declared his resignation surprising. In February 2014, Volkswagen AG announced Renschler was appointed on February 1, 2015 a member of its Executive Board for the Commercial Vehicle Division.

Others

After Renschler had built in 1993, the Mercedes -Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the region has become a center of the automotive industry in the southern United States. Other manufacturers have also later settled in Alabama - eg Toyota, Honda and Hyundai. Today Tuscaloosa applies but still as a temporary home to many German. At the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, there is a German school ( German Supplementary School). In addition, Renschler has launched a study foundation in life. The Mercedes -Benz plant in Alabama is the largest employer in the region. In addition to the M-Class also produces the Mercedes -Benz R-Class and the Mercedes- Benz GL-Class in Tuscaloosa since 2005.

Renschler also committed to the project " Takenoko ," a student exchange between Germany and Japan.

Private

Renschler has a daughter and a son. He is a member of the Academic connection hedgehog Tübingen. In his spare time he plays golf and collecting model trains. With a height of 1.93 he is to date the largest member of the board of Daimler AG.
