Andrew Barron

Andrew "Andy" Barron ( born December 24, 1980 in Invercargill ) is a New Zealand soccer player.

Career

Between 2000 and 2004, Barron studied in the United States at the William Carey University and played in the local football team ( " Crusaders ") in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, organized in the NAIA division. Barron is still (as of 2009) the second best scorer in the history of the team and was included with nine other people in the newly-created Wall of Fame of the Crusaders in 2007.

After his studies, he played for half a year in Northern Ireland at Lisburn Distillery, before returning to New Zealand and played in the subsequent period at Canterbury United and Team Wellington. In 2008 he again went to the U.S. and played for a season with the Minnesota Thunder in the USL First Division. Upon his return to New Zealand, he rejoined Team Wellington. In August 2010, he finished his career.

On October 3, 2013 he announced his comeback in the Samoan champion Kiwi SC, where he was named team captain short time later by coach Martin Tamasese. He helped his team on October 19, 2013 at OCL Preliminary Tournament in American Samoa, the first qualification for the OFC Champions League.

National

Barron made ​​his debut in February 2006 in a series of friendly matches against Malaysia in the New Zealand national team. After he was last employed against Wales in 2007, coach Ricki Herbert nominated him in May 2009 for the Confederations Cup the following month in South Africa.
