Andrew Hutchison

Andrew Sandford Hutchison ( born 1938 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a former primate of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Biography

Hutchison was born in 1938 in Toronto. Hutchison graduated from Upper Canada College. He studied at York University and at the University of Trinity College. His ecclesiastical career began Hutchison as a deacon at Christ Church Deer Park in the Diocese of Toronto. 2004 Hutchison was elected Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada. Previously, he was an Anglican Bishop of Montreal, and in 2002 Archbishop gewählt.Hutchison supported in his Church the blessing of same-sex couples. 2005 visited Hutchison as the Primate of the Episcopal Church of Cuba, where he met, among others, Anglican theology students.

Frederick James Hiltz in 2007, his successor as primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, after Hutchison had declared his resignation.
