Andrew Yeom Soo-jung

Andrew Yeom Soo -jung Cardinal (Korean: 염수정; born December 5, 1943 in Anseong, today South Korea) is Archbishop of Seoul.

Life

Andrew Yeom Soo -jung received on December 8, 1973 by the Archbishop of Seoul, Cardinal Stephen Kim Sou -hwan, the sacrament of ordination to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Seoul.

On December 1, 2001, Pope John Paul II appointed titular bishop of Thibiuca and auxiliary bishop in Seoul. The Archbishop of Seoul, Cardinal Nicholas Cheong Jin -suk, gave him on 25 January 2002, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Gwangju, Andreas Choi Chang- mou, and Bishop of Chuncheon, John Chang- yik. May 10, 2012 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Archbishop of Seoul. The inauguration took place on 25 June of the same year.

In solemn consistory of February 22, 2014 Pope Francis took him a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Crisogono to the College of Cardinals.
