Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul

The Archdiocese of Seoul (Latin: Archidioecesis Seulensis, kor. 서울대 교구 ) is located in South Korea Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic church located in Seoul.

History

The Archdiocese of Seoul was posted on September 9, 1831 by Pope Gregory XVI. established as a Vicariate Apostolic of Korea. This was renamed on April 8, 1911 in Apostolic Vicariate of Seoul. On 12 July 1950, the renamed Vicariate Apostolic Seul was. on 10 March 1962, there was Pope John XXIII. raised to an archbishopric and renamed Seoul archdiocese. On 24 June 2004 this part of its territory was from the foundation of the diocese Uijongbu.

To the Christian persecutions of the 19th century remembers the sanctuary of the Korean Martyrs in Seoul.
