Andrija Anković

Andrija Ankovic (* July 16, 1937 in Gabela at Metković, † April 28, 1980 in Split ) was a Yugoslav football player and coach.

Career as a player

A native of the Croatian Republic of Ankovic came in 1958, having previously played for smaller clubs to Hajduk Split. In 146 league games he scored 64 goals. In 1966 he moved to the Bundesliga for 1.FC Kaiserslautern. In two seasons, he has been used 21 times, where he met four times. His debut in the Bundesliga he was on the second match of the season 1966/67, 27 August 1966 in the 1-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach on the Bökelberg. He was employed as a center-forward coach Gyula Lóránt. The "Red Devils " occupied the fifth rank and the man from Split had scored four goals in 12 league games. The internal team competitors to attack places had been Harald Braner, Willy Reitgaßl and Gerhard Kentschke. In his second year on the " Betz mountain " Otto Knefler was the responsible manager, but he was replaced on March 5, 1968 by Egon Piechaczek. Barely on the 16th rank Kaiserslautern could avoid relegation. Ankovic had been mobilized in nine games - in the attack stormed usually Gerd rye bag and Bernd Windshausen and from midfield ensured Heinz -Dieter Hasebrink (34 /7) and Helmut Kapitulski (20/ 10) for momentum and goals in the offensive - and but was able to achieve any further hits. For the national team, he played eight times. Among other things, he took part in the Football World Cup 1962. He charged in attack watching the match on June 7 in Arica in the 5-0 win against Colombia on the side of Dragoslav Šekularac, Dražan Jerković, Milan Galic and Vojislav MELIC. Previously he had against Poland (1:1) participated in the qualifying match on 25 June 1961, when the final triangle with Milutin Šoškić, Vladimir Ďurkovič and Fahrudin Jusufi formed the Stop the defensive.

More life

After the career he devoted himself to scouting. On April 28, 1980, he died of a heart attack.
