Andrija Fuderer

Andrija Fuderer ( born May 13, 1931 in Subotica, † October 2, 2011 in Palamos ) was a Yugoslav chess player who was later to play for Belgium.

Life

Andrija Fuderer, born in 1931 in Subotica, played for the Yugoslav team at the Chess Olympiads in 1952, 1954 and 1958. In 1953 he reached at the Yugoslav Championship shared the first rank. He qualified for the interzonal tournament in Gothenburg in 1955, where he finished 14-15. Place. In competition, Yugoslavia - USSR 1959 he won against Bronstein 3:1. The Chess Federation FIDE awarded him the title of International Master in 1952, in 1990 the honorary Grandmaster title.

After the failure in Gothenburg he drew largely from chess back and focused on his career as a chemist.

Fuderer was a talented offensive player. His best historical Elo rating of 2674, he reached in January 1955 that he was number 19 of the world rankings retroactively calculated.
