Andrzej Iwan

Andrzej Iwan ( born November 10, 1959 in Kraków, Poland ) is a former Polish football player.

Andrzej Iwan played as a striker at the age of 17 years, the first games in the first Polish League 1977 Wisla Krakow. Coach Jacek Gmoch appointed him to the end of his first season in the squad of the Polish national team for the World Cup 1978 in Argentina. He was regarded at that time as one of the greatest talents of European football. He played the same in the opening match of this World Cup against the defending champion Germany in this World Cup.

Ivan fell in subsequent years by antics off the field. Alcohol problems and fights in pubs Krakow led to several exclusions from the team of his club and the national team. After a move to Gornik Zabrze Ivan was converted by the attacker to attacking midfielder. For Poland, he again played at the Football World Cup 1982 in Spain. Overall, he brought it to 29 international matches, scoring eleven goals.

In 1987, in the Bundesliga for VfL Bochum. He played in two years 30 Bundesliga appearances and scored two goals. The highlight of his time in Bochum was reaching the final of the DFB - Pokal in 1988. His career he decided in Greece with Aris Salonika. Today he is a player consultant and taught Polish footballer of Swiss and German clubs.

In 2012, he was under the title " Offside " ( Spalony ) out his autobiography, in which he devotes much space to his alcoholism.

His son Bartosz Iwan is also football player and currently plays for GKS Katowice in 2nd Polish League.
