Angel Angelov

Angel Angelov; Bulgarian: Ангел Ангелов; English transcription: Angel Angelov (* July 10, 1948 in Sofia ) is a former Bulgarian boxer.

Boxing career

He took part in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, where he won the silver medal in the light welterweight. He suggested this in the first round Luis Contreras of Venezuela ( Ko), in the second round Desiderio Walter Gómez from Argentina (4:1), in the quarterfinals Srisook Bantow from Thailand ( Ko) and the semi-finals Issaka Daboré from Niger (5-0 ). Only in the final he defeated almost 2:3 against Ray Seales of the United States.

At the European Championships 1973 in Belgrade, however, he resigned in the light welterweight already out in the second round against the eventual silver medalist Anatoli Kamnew from the Soviet Union.
