Ángel di María

Ángel Di María (actually: Ángel Fabián Di María Hernández, born February 14, 1988 in Rosario, Argentina) is an Argentine football player. The winger is in for Real Madrid since the 2010/11 season.

Club History

Rosario Central and Benfica

Ángel Di María played from 2001 to 2005 in the youth team of local club Rosario Central. From 2005, he played in the first team for which he scored four goals in 35 missions. Many big clubs such as Boca Juniors or Arsenal have been linked with him. Ultimately, he wrote then in July 2007 at Benfica a five year contract.

Real Madrid

After three seasons in Portugal Di María moved in June 2010 to Real Madrid. He signed a five-year contract for 25 million euros. After the first round of the 2010/11 season he was selected by the Marca to the best newcomer. On 20 April 2011 he won with Real Madrid the final of the Copa del Rey 2010/11 against FC Barcelona, where he was part of the success of his flank to the winning goal by Cristiano Ronaldo. In 53 official matches Di María came in his first season at Real on nine goals and twenty assists.

In the first half of the season 2011/12 Di María became the leading creative player of the team and was responsible for numerous goals and assists. At the end of the first round he was injured but the thigh and fell two months out. Another muscle injury shortly after his comeback threw him back again. At the end of the season, the Real Madrid finished as champions, were for Di María in 23 league games 15 assists and five goals to book. He was the third best of the preparer League despite his few missions.

National

2007 Ángel Di María was appointed to the Argentine U-20 national team. For this team, he played two tournaments so far: the South American U- 20 Championship 2007 in Paraguay and the Junior World Championships 2007 in Canada. The latter won the Argentine youth team, and Di María scored three goals in the tournament. He was also a player in the victorious Argentinean selection in the Olympic football tournament in China in 2008. Here, he scored the decisive goal in the final against Nigeria.
