Angela Hewitt

Angela Hewitt ( born July 26, 1958) is a Canadian pianist.

Life

Angela Hewitt comes from a musical family, her father was the cathedral organist in Ottawa. At the university she studied with the French pianist Jean -Paul Sévilla. In 1985 she won the International Bach Piano Competition in Toronto.

Hewitt's repertoire is wide-ranging. One focus is on the piano works of Johann Sebastian Bach, which she has fully loaded to the British record label Hyperion on 14 CDs. In addition, There are recordings of François Couperin, Frédéric Chopin, Enrique Granados, Maurice Ravel, Olivier Messiaen, Jean -Philippe Rameau, Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, and Emmanuel Chabrier.

Also found in Germany Hewitt now increasingly attention from the public and the critics: After appearances at the Schleswig- Holstein Music Festival and the European Music Festival Stuttgart in October 2005 she gave her debut at the Berlin Philharmonie with the Deutsches Sinfonie -Orchester Berlin.
