Angelika Overath

Angelika Overath ( born July 17, 1957 in Karlsruhe ) is a German writer and journalist.

Life and work

Overath studied in Tübingen, German, History, Italian Studies and Cultural Science and doctorate in 1986 with a thesis on the blue in modern poetry. She then worked for three years as a writer in Greece in 1991 and returned back to Germany. Meanwhile Overath lives in Sent ( Lower Engadine, Switzerland ).

While studying Overath wrote for the Swabian day sheet and for the magazine TransAtlantik. Later Overath wrote regular reports and essays for the NZZ, NZZ am Sonntag, GEO, Merian, ZEIT, you, The Magazine, Frankfurter Rundschau for mare and for the series of the Vontobel Foundation. Since 1998, her works were published mainly prose; in addition she has published several anthologies. She is a lecturer at the Swiss School of Journalism MAZ.

Angelika Overath is married to the literary scholar Manfred Koch and has three children.
