Angelo Branduardi

Angelo Branduardi ( born February 12, 1950 in Cuggiono ) is an Italian musician and songwriter with Europe-wide notoriety.

Life

Angelo Branduardi was born in Cuggiono, west of Milan. A few months after his birth the family moved to Genoa, where he received a diploma of violin at the conservatory. At the age of 15 years, the family moved to Milan, where he began to study philosophy in 1968. During this time Branduardi began his own poems and his favorite poet set to music and singing to the guitar. Produced in 1974 Paul Buckmaster his debut album. His lyrics, mostly written by or together with his wife Luisa Zappa were often adaptations and translations of ancient poems, legends, fairy tales, as well as texts from the Jewish tradition. ( For example, the song Alla fiera is dell'est, or Highdown Fair ( 1976), an adaptation of the Jewish Passover song Chad Gadja, Sotto il tiglio or Under the Lime Tree (1976), a continuation of Under the linden of courtly love poet Walther von der Vogelweide ). For setting Branduardi borrowed repeatedly tunes from the international folk songs treasure.

Music

Vocally was Branduardi, as his musical role model Cat Stevens, primarily as a ballad interpreter successfully. Many instruments he plays on his own albums Music: violin ( his first instrument ), various flutes and guitars, lute, dulcimer, etc.

In Germany Branduardi was initially an insider tip of the singer-songwriter scene, until 1979, his song La pulce d' acqua ( " The water flea ") was a small radio hit. His most successful album in Germany was Cogli la prima mela ( 1/80 D- LP 12). Few of Branduardis albums published in English (texts: Peter Sinfield, Keith Christmas ), many with French translation (text: Etienne Roda -Gil ). 1985 Branduardi was heard in the charity project Musica per l' Italia Etiopia.

After three soundtracks in the 1980s ( including " Momo " by Michael Ende 1985, directed by Johannes Schaaf ) has turned in the 90 first down to earth sounds and finally the Irish Folk ( Il dito e la luna, 1998) Branduardi. In the project " Futuro Antico " ( " Ancient Future", yet seven albums from 1996 to 2011 ) he presents himself as a performer, especially Italian Renaissance music.

His recent album in 2000 L' infinitamente Piccolo is dedicated to St. Francis and contains 11 songs that are based on Franciscan sources.

From January 2014 Branduardi presented in the context of his church touring Germany in 2014 together with a multi- percussionist and his companions on guitar, Maurizio Fabrizio, excerpts from his oeuvre, especially his early works, as well as songs from the latest studio album Il Rovo e la Rosa. The concerts were held in churches in major German cities. The concert series began in Munich and went through various cities to Hamburg and then to Berlin and Leipzig. Two Concert Dates example in Reutlingen were canceled.
