Angelo Inganni

Angelo Inganni (* November 24, 1807 in Brescia, Italy, † December 2, 1880 in Gussago ) was an Italian genre, architectural and portrait painter.

Life and work

Inganni received his first instruction from his father Giovanni Inganni, a decorative painter, and his brother Francesco Inganni. He sat with portraits and Archtikturgemälden its beginnings. After his military service, he was accepted on the recommendation of Field Marshal Radetzky in 1833 as a student at the Milan Academy of Fine Arts. His teacher there was Francesco Hayez, the leading artist of Romanticism. In Milan Inganni began to paint vistas of the city. For his new kind of perspective he was known, and he even received in 1839 by the Austrian Emperor Ferdinand I. an award.

Subsequently Inganni worked in Venice and Brescia, where he painted historical paintings with scenes from the past and present. He followed the classical - romantic direction of his teacher Hayez. In addition he painted from 1850 inspired by Flemish painting genre pictures, descriptions of rural life of his home, which he knew how to give artificial lighting effects a special charm. Also known are the views of churches and palaces of Como, Milan, Venice, Brescia and Verona from hand Ingannis.

Inganni married in 1842 Amalia Bertera, the widow of the painter GB Gigola. From this marriage came out son Enrico. After Bertera died, married Inganni 1856, the painter Amanzia Guérillot. Many of her works were first attributed to him.

At the end of his life he settled in Gussago, where he endowed the parish church with a fresco.

Ingannis images (Austrian Art Association ), Brussels and at the Paris World Exhibition of 1855 were shown at exhibitions in Milan, Venice, Vienna.

The works of Angelo Inganni are now over collections throughout Europe spread, particularly but these are in northern Italy and in Vienna collections to be found.
