Anglade

Anglade is a municipality with 911 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French department of Gironde in the Aquitaine region.

History

Rumor Madame de Maintenon had their residence in the Château La Barrière, of which today still bears witness to the ruins. The name was derived from " Anglais ", the French word for " Englishman ".

The approximately 800 villagers - they call themselves " Angladais " or " Angladaises " - live mostly of agriculture, which has specialized in animal husbandry, vegetable, corn and wheat growing. Anglade is - favored by the calcareous soil on the entire community district - known for viticulture.
