Änglagård

Änglagård is a Swedish progressive rock group.

Band History

The group was founded in 1991 by Tord Lindman (vocals, guitar) and Johan Högberg ( bass) founded with the aim to revive the Progressive Rock of the 70s again.

Published in 1992 Änglagård with " hubris " her first studio album, which came on the international scene enthusiastic response. It was followed by appearances in the USA and 1994, the recording and publication of the second, purely instrumental album " Epilogue ", which was also rezipiert extremely positive.

After the band dissolved in 1995, the members went their separate ways until they 2002 - again came together and on tour went, under which it 2003, a single for a long time appearance in the German-speaking countries, on the Freak Show Art rock - without Tord Lindman Festival in Würzburg, had. Then it was again quiet around Änglagård, officially persisted though, but was only sporadically active.

In early 2009, the band announced a re-release of two studio albums recorded to date on your own label and went to work on new studio recordings. The third studio album " Viljans Öga " was finally released in July 2012. In the same year the band embarked again concerts, including at the prestigious festival NEARfest and Gouveia Art Rock Festival. Live keyboardist Thomas Johnsson by David Lundberg was represented.

In the fall of 2012, the band announced an extensive lineup changes: Tord Lindman returned as a guitarist to Änglagård and sparked Jonas Engdegård from, and Mattias Olsson and Thomas Johnsson were replaced by Erik Hammarström and Linus Kase. In this cast Änglagård occurred among other things on the Night Of The Prog Festival 2013, the open-air stage on the Loreley.

Music

The musicians of Änglagård were and are mainly inspired by progressive rock groups like Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Trettioåriga kriget, Send Führs Froehling, Cathedral or Yezda Urfa. Therefore, they also use mostly original instruments from the 1970s such as the Mellotron, Hammond organ and Rickenbacker bass. With them, they create a very retro - oriented sound that is perceived as a composer but independently and production technology extremely powerful. As a special feature Änglagårds applies the "Swedish melancholy " in their sound, which is produced mainly by the interaction of acoustic guitar, flute and string sounds of the Mellotron.

As can be heard on the debut album also Swedish vocals Tord Lindman, the second and third studio album was recorded completely instrumental.
