Angus Ogilvy

Sir Angus James Bruce Ogilvy, KCVO, PC ( born September 14, 1928 in London, † 26 December 2004) was a member of the British royal family.

The Honourable, since its introduction into the Privy Council ( Privy Council ) the Right Honourable Angus Ogilvy was a son of David Ogilvy, 12th Earl of Airlie and Lady Alexandra Coke, daughter of Thomas Coke, 3rd Earl of Leicester.

The businessman was known for his attempts to circumvent the sanctions against Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. After his career had failed, he turned to charitable work. For these activities, he was beaten in 1989 as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order to Knight. Since 1997 he was a member of the Privy Council.

He married on April 24, 1963 Princess Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel, a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. The couple had two children, James Ogilvy (* February 29, 1964 ) and Marina Ogilvy ( born July 31, 1966). The Queen had offered him the occasion of the marriage, to give a hereditary earldom. This leaning Ogilvy but also from how the use of a suite in one of the royal palaces, because he was afraid the limelight associated with it.

He accompanied his wife regularly at official occasions, entered the last years before his death, however, little in public to. He has long suffered already on laryngeal cancer, which then ultimately was fatal. He was buried in the royal cemetery at Frogmore House.
