Aniceti Kitereza

Aniceti Kitereza (* 1896 in Sukuma, Tanzania, † 20 April 1981 Kagunguli on Ukerewe, Tanzania ) was a Tanzanian writer and theologian.

Kitereza was a king 's grandson, his grandfather was King Machunda ( the rainmaker ) from the clan of Silanga on the island Ukerewe in Lake Victoria. At the age of nine, he became a Christian and then went to a mission school and later studied theology and languages. As a voice talent, he spoke eight languages ​​(including Kikerewe, Swahili, German, English, French, Latin ); he collected folk tales and wrote historical books.

His greatest success The children of the Rainmaker (Original Title: Bw Myombekere na Bi Bugonoka na na Ntulanalwo Bulihwali ) was published posthumously in 1981 in Tanzania Publishing House in Kiswahili and 1990 for the first time in German.
