Creation and publication
After Nexus Polaris, the band for legal reasons Covenant in The Kovenant had to be renamed also left Sarah Jezebel Deva, Astennu and Sverd the band. Nagash, now with the new pseudonym Lex Icon, left Dimmu Borgir to concentrate on The Kovenant can. The recordings for a new album, working title Prophecies of Fire, lasted three months. In addition to original compositions, a Babylon Zoo Cover was recorded. Eileen Küpper was involved as a singer, Siggi Bemm served as producer of the album, which was eventually published under the title Animatronic.

The change of name and lineup changes was accompanied by a strong stylistic development because Animatronic leaves the Black Metal roots of the band even further behind than Nexus Polaris. Reception
The album received mostly positive reviews. Although Carsten Small from Rock Hard criticized " the silly and plate cover version of Babylon Zoo hits", but praised the new style of the band and finds " The Kovenant really have something to say and write great songs.
