Steinar Sverd Johnsen

Steinar " Sverd " Johnsen is a Norwegian keyboardist and composer. He is mainly known for his work in Arcturus, but was also a member and guest musicians on other metal bands.

Life and work

In 1987 he founded with Marius Vold and Jan Axel " Hellhammer " Blomberg, the band Mortem, which released a demo and renamed Arcturus 1990. Johnsen stood beside Blomberg over the years, the only constant member of the band. He was often instrumental in the compositions in which he processed esp. influences of Johann Sebastian Bach and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

In 1994, he was under the name of S. S. involved in Satyricon's The Shadow Throne, a year later he contributed Emperor a song to the compilation Nordic Metal: A Tribute to Euronymous murdered in memory of the 1993 Øystein " Euronymous " Aarseth in and played on Ulver's debut album Bergtatt - Et Eeventyr i 5 Capitler. Mid-1990s was also Johnsen to live cast of Ved Buens end. In 1998, he was temporarily a member of Covenant and took with them on Nexus Polaris. He was also a 2000 guest musicians on Fleuretys Department of Apocalyptic Affairs.
