Carl August Tidemann

Carl August Tidemann is a Norwegian guitarist and composer. He is mainly known for his work in Arcturus and Winds.

Life and work

At the age of 17, he began playing guitar. After about three years, he participated in a music school lessons with Mads Eriksen, then he went for a summer course for the first time to the Musicians Institute, where he graduated with a further 6- month course in 1993.

Tidemann founded in 1989 or 1990, the progressive metal band tritone, the demo Shadowland recorded in 1994 and 1995 two pieces contributed to the compilation A Gathering of 8 Norwegian Prog Metal bands.

In 1995 he was also brought by Jan Axel Blomberg to Arcturus, with whom he recorded their debut album Aspera hiems symfonia. At successor La Masquerade Infernal, he was involved in 1997 as a guest musician. In the meantime, his solo album Stylistic Changes had appeared. After several years in which Tidemann was barely active musically, in 2000 he was taken by Andy winter wind. Tidemann was involved in the sequence of all the publications of the band.

Tidemann has also been involved as a producer or engineer to Fleuretys the 1993 demo Black Snow, played for her 2000's Department of Apocalyptic Affairs a few solos and was a guest musician on Diablas album Everything passport from 2001 and on VESPERIAN Sorrows album Storm Winds of age in 2012.
