Winds (Band)

Winds is a Norwegian metal band.

History

The band was founded in 1998, the musicians were active before the foundation of the wind in the metal scene and worked to some extent been together in other projects. So Carl August and Jan Axel Blomberg Tidemann hiems were involved in the debut album of the band Arcturus Aspera symfonia.

Two years after the founding of Winds was an EP, with the help of three guest musicians, completed, which was released in 2001 by Avantgarde Music. At this time, the band was already working on an album, which was released the following year by The End Records. At the recording of Reflections of the I, a string trio of Oslo Filharmonien was involved. At the date of the next album was completed, which was recorded together with a string quartet and published under the title The Imaginary Direction of Time in 2004.

Then the musicians other bands and projects devoted. They thus established Andy Winter, Lars Eikind and Blomberg 2004 Age of Silence and released an album and an EP. After three years, eventually followed Winds ' third album Prominence and Demise, in which, alongside a string quartet Dan Swanö, Lars Nedland ( Solefald, Borknagar ) and Agnete M. Kirkevaag ( Madder Mortem ) were involved.

The band has so far occurred not live, and indicates not intend to do so.

Style of music and texts

Winds ' style combines elements of progressive metal, dark metal and classical music together. The lyrics have a living philosophical painting. The texts are written by winter working out with Eikind the vocal lines. Winter usually sets the basic structure of the pieces, which are completed in the rule of Eikind and Tidemann. The strings are arranged by Eikind.
