Anita Kert Ellis

Anita Ellis ( born April 12, 1920 in Montreal, Canada; actually Anita Kert ) is a former Canadian singer.

Life

Anita Ellis was born the daughter of Jewish parents in Montreal to the world. From 1943 to 1946 she was married to Frank Ellis and from 1960 with the neurologist Mortimer F. Shapiro. Her brother was the singer Larry Kert ( 1930-1991 ).

In the 1940s, Ellis dubbed the vocals of Rita Hayworth in the movies Gilda (1946 ), A goddess on earth (1947 ), The Lady from Shanghai ( 1947) and Love nights in Seville (1948 ). Became famous especially the interpreted her song Put the Blame on Mame from Gilda to the Hayworth, who only moved her lips, seductive dancing while stripping off her long black satin gloves. Later, Ellis Vera -Ellen and Jeanne Crain lent in the film musicals Three Little Words (1950) and So you love in Paris ( 1955), her singing voice. Since 1987, joined the singer, who suffered for years with great fright, to no more on stage. Meanwhile, widowed and suffering from Alzheimer's, she now lives in Manhattan.
