Anna Boschek

Anna Boschek ( born May 14, 1874 in Vienna, † November 19, 1957 ibid ) was an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Workers' Party ( SDAP ).

Profession

After the death of his father, a railway locksmith, Anna Boschek had 9 years to leave school and start working. She worked as a home worker, had jobs in a Perlenbläserei in a Galvanisierungswerkstätte and a harmonica factory. She broke due to a strong eye trouble teaching in a silver factory from China. Later she worked as a factory worker. In 1891 she was Suplerin in Ottakringerstraße jersey factory. From 1894 she was union employees.

Private

Anna Boscheks guardian until they come of age, but also her political mentor, was Anton Hueber, the chairman and secretary of the Austrian Trade Union Commission. Until her death she remained single.

Political functions

Among other things, it was in 1890 the first woman in the party executive of the SDAP, 1891 was a member of the Trade Union of Textile Workers and joined the Social Democratic Workers' Educational Association. She was chair of the women's section in the Confederation of Free Trade Unions and was from 1918 to 1920 a member of the Vienna City Council. From March 4, 1919 until November 9, 1920, she was a member of the Constituent National Assembly and from 10 November 1920 to 17 February 1934 she was Member of Parliament.

Anna Boschek was arrested on 17 February 1934, and spent seven weeks in police detention house at the Elisabeth Promenade (now Rossauerlände ). After her release, she was under police surveillance. She stepped back in 1945 for health reasons of their political functions, but remained in a section of the Social Democratic Party in the 15th district of Vienna Rudolf -Fuenfhaus active. At the International Socialist Women's Conference 1957 in Vienna, she appeared for the last time in appearance.

Other Features

Among other things, she was also a member of the club leadership of the Social Democratic Workers' Educational Association, Director of the Women's Reich Committee and in 1919 a member of the Women's Commission of the International Labour Office

Honors

After Anna Boschek erected 1957-1959 " Anna Boschek - apprentice - home " was in the Plößlgasse 2/Prinz-Eugen-Straße 20 - 22 named. In the course of the renovation of the house of labor of the building was demolished in 2007. In 2009, a municipal housing estate in Davidgasse 78, which had been built in 1953-56, named in Anna- Boschek yard.
