Anna Friel

Anna Louise Friel ( born July 12, 1976 in Rochdale, Lancashire ) is a British actress.

Life and career

Friel began her career with the participation in the soap opera Brookside, which ran from 1993 to 1995 on British television on Channel 4. Here she caused a stir when she gave another actress the first lesbian kiss on British television. Since then, she has starred in many films, so in 1999 the Shakespeare adaptation A Midsummer Night's Dream. For the main role in the film The War Bride (2001) she was nominated for a Genie Award in 2002. 2007 to 2008 she starred opposite Lee Pace starred in the series Pushing Daisies.

In the late 1990s Friel had a six month relationship with singer Robbie Williams. On 9 July 2005, she brought a daughter into the world. The child's father is her fellow actor David Thewlis.
