Anne Marie Trechslin

Anne Marie Trechslin ( born July 17, 1927 in Milan, † 28 June 2007 in Bern ) was a Swiss painter, wood seamstress, artist and illustrator.

Life and work

Trechslin studied painting in Paris and at the School of Applied Arts Bern, then in Italy and England. She gained international recognition with their bird and flower watercolors. Her watercolors are naturally faithful reproductions of plants and also harmonious and figural representations. In particular, it was known by the illustration of numerous art and reference books on the subject of flowers, as an expert on the picture of roses and camellias. She has had solo exhibitions of her works in Basel, Bern, Paris, Rome, Florence, Perugia and Malta.

During the International Congress rose from 1963, the city of her key from Nashville, Tennessee was presented as a gift of honor. In 1968 it was dedicated by the rose breeder Jean -Marie Meilland a rose. In 1987, Paul Trechslin the main prize for her book illustrations.

Stamp series after watercolors by Anne Marie Trechslins flowers, fruit and bird motifs have been issued by San Marino and Switzerland. For " Year of the Rose 2002» has the Pro Juventute issued another charity stamp series after Trechslins templates that represents the varieties of roses Christmas Rose, Ingrid Bergman, Charmian, Belle Vaudoise and spring gold. By rubbing with the finger these stamps give off a scent of roses and the Christmas rose smells after Christmas fir, cinnamon and cloves. For the stamps Trechslin was awarded in Venice " Cavallino d' Oro " Award.

The artist also worked for the Botanical Library of Pittsburgh and the Musée d' Histoire Naturelle in Paris.
