Anne Ramsey

Anne Ramsey ( born September 1, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska; † August 11, 1988 in Los Angeles, California), born Anne Mobley, was an American actress.

Life

Born the daughter of an insurance manager Ramsey grew up in Omaha and attended the Bennington College, where she became interested in theater. In the 1950s she starred in several Broadway productions.

1954 married actor Logan Ramsey Ramsey to, with whom she moved to Philadelphia and founded with him the Philadelphia Theatre of the Living Arts.

Only in the early 1970s, began her career as a character actress in Hollywood. In addition to numerous guest appearances in television series and movies, she was primarily known for two roles: as "Mama Fratelli " in Steven Spielberg's The Goonies and - on the side of Danny DeVito - as " Mrs. Lift " in Throw Momma from the train! . For the embodiment of the mother of Danny DeVito's character, she was nominated for an Oscar in 1988 ( " Best Supporting Actress " ) and Golden Globe Award. For both films, they also received the Saturn Award for " Best Supporting Actress in a movie ."

1988 returned the esophageal cancer and she passed away at the age of 58 years in the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Los Angeles.
