Annemie Neyts-Uyttebroeck

Anne -Marie Cécile J. ( Annemie ) Neyts- Uyttebroeck ( born June 17, 1944 in Ixelles / Elsene ) is a Belgian politician of the party Open Vlaamse en Democraten liberals (Open VLD). Since 1994 she is a member of the European Parliament since September 2005 also chairman of the European Liberal, Democratic and Reform Party ( ELDR).

Life

Neyts- Uyttebroeck earned her degree in 1967 Romance Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and 1970 at the same university licentiate Press and communication sciences. In 1967, she was a teaching exam and was until 1973 at the Koninklijk Atheneum Zaventem worked as a French teacher.

In 1973 she took over the post of press attachés in the cabinet of then Justice Minister Herman Vanderpoorten and was followed from 1975 to 1981 as Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Deputy Governor of Brabant operates. She was involved in the Partij voor de Vrijheid Vooruitgang (PVV ), which in 1992 the name Vlaamse en Democraten Liberals (VLD ) and in 2002 the name Open Vlaamse en Democraten liberals (Open VLD ) announced. From 1977 to 1986, and later from 1995 to 2004, she chaired the PVV Brussels city or the VLD Brussels City. In addition, they had until June 1989 held the office of state chairman of the PVV and from 1993 to 1997, the Office of the Deputy Chairman of the VLD of November 1985.

At the municipal level was Neyts- Uyttebroeck 1982 to 1989 worked as a municipal councilor in Brussels. Neyts- Uyttebroeck was from 1981 to 1994 and from 2003 to 2004 she was deputy in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives. In between, she was from 1999 to 2000 as the successor of Jos Chabert, Foreign Minister of the Brussels Capital Region.

From 2001 to 2003 she was Minister of Agriculture. In the European elections in 1994 she was elected to the European Parliament, to which it belongs since then. She is a member of the ALDE Group and the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Subcommittee on Security and Defence and the Delegation for relations with the United States.

For their political merits it has already been awarded on 30 January 1995 with the honorary title of Minister of State.
