Life and work

Annie Gallup grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she studied art at the University of Michigan. As a child she took dance lessons, but soon was music, especially country blues, her great passion. Gallup began playing guitar licks and made as much of the albums of Mississippi John Hurt, Doc Watson and Dave Van Ronk.

For Gallup, it was obvious that she writes her own songs, which are often referred to by critics as a " stream of consciousness - speaking folk " with musical accompaniment: " Gallup sounds like the musical daughter of Joni Mitchell and Lou Reed " on, was Gallup repeatedly written. This mixture can be heard clearly in Gallup's song " Blue Dress" from their album " Courage My Love" (1998), the atmosphere also reminiscent of the Andy Warhol Memorial Album Songs For Drella (1990 ) by Lou Reed and John Cale.

Annie Gallup has published nine albums and one EP. On the Rachel Bissex tribute album Remembering Rachel: Songs Of Rachel Bissex (2005 ) it is to listen to their song Angel. On the cover of her album Swerve Annie Gallup presented with her favorite guitar Gibson Blueshawk with which they can be seen not only on their website, but also on numerous concert photos.
