Anny Ahlers

Anny Ahlers ( born December 21, 1907 in Hamburg, † March 14, 1933 in London) was a German singer and actress.

Life

Anny Ahlers was born in 1907 in Hamburg. The age of four she was a dancer up in a circus. After her vocal studies she got a role in the operetta Casanova, the Ralph Benatzky had arranged based on melodies by Johann Strauss. With this role, she was known in Berlin.

Her roles included the exotic Princess Laya in Paul Abraham's operetta revue " The Flower of Hawaii". At the Vienna premiere of the operetta " The Violet of Montmartre " with music by Emmerich Kálmán she sang the " Parisian Nanon ". 1932 Anny Ahlers joined forces with Richard Tauber at the Berlin Metropol Theatre in the world premiere of the operetta "The Song of Love" on. For Erich Wolfgang Korngold classical operetta " The Lace Handkerchief Queen " by Johann Strauss had dressed in a modern guise. Richard Tauber also took from it two arias, but in some recordings of duets of tenor Marcel Wittrisch was the musical partner of Anny Ahlers.
