Anomura

Spring cancer ( Munida quadrispina )

The funds crabs ( Anomura ) are a partial order of decapods. It includes, inter alia, the groups of hermit crabs and porcelain crabs.

Features

The label them the means cancers goes back to a historical classification of the decapods. In that ( Brachyura ) and a long, hummerartigem abdomen was distinguished between short abdomen ( macrura ). Those decapods, which could not be clearly assigned to one of these groups were placed in the center crabs ( Anomura ). Therefore, this partial order is still quite heterogeneous, especially in terms of the morphology and the populated habitats of these cancers, such as in the range of terrestrial coconut crab up to the deep sea, such as the Yeti crab.

Like all decapods crustaceans also possess means five pairs of walking legs. However, the fifth and rearmost pair is reduced and is not used for locomotion and may, inter alia, as a cleaner legs modified present. The carapace is not like the crabs fused with the epistome and is weak or completely calcified, and available in a wide variety of ornamentation and shape. The abdomen of the crayfish agent may own or show no evidence of segmentation pleura. It can be long, lie hidden beneath the carapace or be twisted to hold about a snail.

In the phylogenetic systematics which means crabs are the sister group of crabs ( Brachyura ) and form with them the taxon Meiura.
