Anshel Brusilow
Anshel Brusilov ( born August 14, 1928 in Philadelphia ) is an American conductor and violinist.
Life
Brusilov studied until 1943 violin and conducting at the Curtis Institute of Music, and until 1947 at the " Philadelphia Musical Academy " and with Pierre Monteux. He worked from 1954 to 1955 as concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra under George Szell and 1959-1966 as concertmaster at the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy. Several well-known CD recordings.
He founded in 1961 the "Chamber Symphony Of Philadelphia Quartet" and released on RCA Records. In 1970 he became conductor at the " Dallas Symphony Orchestra". It also made recordings with Bill Holcombe.
Brusilov taught until 2008 at the University of North Texas and 1982-1989 at Southern Methodist University. Since 1992 he has been Music Director of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra.
In his honor, the " Anshel Brusilov Chair in Orchestral Conducting " was donated.
He is a member of the "Delta Omicron ", a musical connection.
