Antelao

The Antelao ( Ladin Nantelou ) is with 3264 meters slm the second highest mountain of the Dolomites.

It is located in the Cadore ( Belluno ), northeast of the Boitetals. As the highest pinnacle of the eastern Dolomites Antelao is a rather atypical for the Dolomites mountain. While elsewhere Massive closed and plateaus are, the Antelao forms a standing isolated rock pyramid. With the west towards towering Pelmo it is the gateway from the Piave valley in the Valle del Boite.

The normal route ( Set II ) takes on the North Ridge, from the northern Valle d' Oten. The plate shots of Nordgrats are dangerous because of the supported rubble, especially in snow and ice.
