Antergos

Antergos (formerly Cinnarch ) is a Linux distribution from Galicia, which is based on the operating system Arch Linux. It is the GNOME desktop environment 3 set as the default, but it can also be installed with Cinnamon, Razor -qt or Xfce. History and Development

The project was started as Cinnarch with the desktop environment Cinnamon, a fork of GNOME Shell. In April 2013, the team switched to Cinnamon GNOME version 3.6, because difficulties with Cinnamon occurring due to compatibility issues related to GTK libraries. Accordingly, the distribution was renamed Antergos and released under the new name in May 2013.

Other changes in the standard configuration:

  • File Manager: Nautilus Nemo
  • Display manager: MDM (Mint Desktop Manager ) to GDM
  • Messenger: Pidgin to Empathy

Installation

Antergos offers a text based installation program and the graphic -based Cnchi. The corresponding live media starts with the Gnome desktop, offers during the installation, the choice between the desktop environments Gnome 3 Cinnamon, Xfce and Razor -qt on. To start the installation, a network connection is needed.

Package Management
