Anthony Steel (actor)

Anthony Steel ( born May 21, 1920 in London, † March 21, 2001 ) was a British actor.

Life

Steels father was an army officer in India; he enjoyed a high school education in Cambridge and experienced the Second World War as a British soldier at the front. Shortly after the war he had the goal of becoming an actor. Thanks to its major and minor supporting roles in British comedies, thrillers and adventure movies in the 1950s, he gained popularity in England.

After several lead roles in Italian costume dramas, he obtained in Germany in 1964 in the role of the greedy oil mine owner Bud Forrester in Winnetou Part 2 notoriety.

Steel was 1949-1954 married to Juanita Forbes, from 1956 to 1959 with the Hollywood diva Anita Ekberg and from 1964 to 2001 Joan Melcher.

1975 played Steel alongside Corinne Clery and Udo Kier in the French love movie The Story of O, the role of Sir Stephen.

The last years of his life Steel in London, where he died of heart failure in March 2001.
