Anthony Wilson (musician)

Anthony Wilson ( born May 9, 1968) is an American jazz guitarist, bandleader and composer.

Life and work

The son of trumpeter and bandleader Gerald Wilson won the 1995 international competition for composers Thelonious Monk Institute and received since then numerous commissions for smaller and larger works. He made his debut in 1997 as a bandleader with the album Anthony Wilson, which entered the list of the ten best albums of Jazz Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Boston Herald and Jazziz. He published since then five more albums.

Wilson leads his own trio with keyboardist Joe Bagg and drummer Mark Ferber. Since 2001 he is member of the band by Diana Krall. Your arisen during appearances in the Paris Olympia Theatre Album Live In Paris was awarded a Grammy. He continued to work with musicians like Bennie Wallace, Larry Goldings, Joe Henry, Harold Land, Chris Botti and his father, Gerald Wilson, and has attended live performances and recordings, among others with Madeleine Peyroux, Al Jarreau and Aaron Neville.
