Anthony Zee

Anthony Zee ( born June 7, 1945 in Kunming, China) is a Chinese- American theoretical physicist who mainly deals with quantum field theory and elementary particle physics.

Life and work

Zee was in Sao Paulo in a Catholic school and studied at Princeton and Harvard, where he worked in theoretical physics at Sidney Coleman MD in 1970 ( he never made his master's degree, but in 1978 received an Honorary Master of the University of Pennsylvania ). 1970-1972 and 1977/78 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study and 1972/73 at The Rockefeller University. 1973 to 1978 he was a Sloan Fellow and at Princeton University. 1978-1980 he was an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania and from 1980 to 1985 at the University of Washington. He is currently a professor at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics and the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he has been since 1985.

Zee has over 200 publications on particle physics (among GUTs and proton decay, Baryonenerzeugung, neutrino physics), quantum field theories (anomalies and others), Condensed Matter Physics ( high-temperature superconductivity, quantum Hall effect, Anyon Theory), the theory of random and disordered systems and Biophysics ( spread of disease, RNA folding, and others) written. In the 1970s, he also wrote, inter alia, with Frank Wilczek 's early work on the consequences of the asymptotic freedom of quantum chromodynamics and decays of hadrons with the then newly discovered heavy quarks ( charm quark ).

Zee also wrote a textbook on quantum field theory, with which it aims to be limited to essentials.
